Calling Young Filmmakers!

Do you love watching or making films?

  • Will you be 16-19 years old by 26th October 2025 or 20-25years old with an EHCP?

  • Would you like to shoot and star in your own film?

The BFI Film Academy Short Course, delivered by Beacon Films, starts in October 2025!

Open to all with a special focus on creating a supportive and inclusive environment for disabled and neurodivergent young people.

  • 12 FREE places available

  • No experience necessary!

  • Learn how to use a camera, record sound, film on location, edit and create a music soundtrack.

  • Work as a team to create your very own short film

  • Travel and Access bursaries available


    Please note:if you have taken part in The BFI Film Academy before, you are not eligible to apply to take part.

To apply for a place you must attend a Taster & Application session on Sat 11th October.

  • Taster and Application sessions are FREE fun, hands-on workshops

  • There are 2 sessions available

  • Sessions last 2hrs and 15min

  • You only need to attend ONE!

  • All sessions take place in Byker, Newcastle upon Tyne.
